congressman steve king, and analysis of neal king of the wall street journal. >>> good morning -- >> once again, former governor, tim pawlenty, is pulling out of the race. he will no longer be a republican candidate for president. this after placing third in the iowa poll yesterday. we want to bring in our peter hamby, a political correspondent for us. what led to this? was it third place? >> absolutely a third place finish. his staff privately in the weeks running up to the straw poll knew they needed a first or strong second place finish to prove to the donors and supporters that their campaign was not stalled, and he was myered in single digits. late last night pawlenty organized a conference call with supporters, and staff, and that call happened this morning and i am told by a source on the call, he will later today announce the end of his campaign, and he told his staff, quote, we needed a boost from aims that did not happen." that's the word this morning, and unfortunately pawlenty was not able to gain traction in iowa. he joined the race 150 days ago and michele bachmann jumped in
